Pre-arrival tips for Bali airport
How to streamline your Bali airport experience
When visiting as a tourist, your arrival process will be much quicker if you process your visa, customs declaration, and Bali Tourism Levy, online before arriving in Bali.
Bali Airport now has Autogates for Immigration which scan your passport so you can avoid queuing for Immigration Officers – they can be used if you have both:
- A tourist visa already issued and paid for before your arrival, through the online system
- A biometric passport (ie one with a readable chip)
So before you leave for your Bali trip we recommend that you do the following:
- Apply for your tourist visa online.
- You can get your online visa here: https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/web/visa-selection
- Pretty much all our guests use the visa called B1 – Tourist (Visa on Arrival)
- This is valid for a stay of 30 days and extendable for another 30 days.
- It costs IDR 500,000
Should you require any other form of visa for specific purposes, we recommend that you contact a visa agent for advice.
- Fill out your customs declaration online
- This is referred to as the e-CD Customs Declaration Form.
- You can complete it here: https://ecd.beacukai.go.id/
- You are recommended to complete it online before landing in Bali.
- The form can be completed up to 3 days before arriving in Bali
- You will receive a QR code – please save it on your phone or print it out. It will be scanned as you pass through customs.
- Pay for Bali Tourism Levy (150,000 Rp)
- All International visitors to Bali now need to pay the tourism levy of 150,000 Rp.
- There is an online site on which you can pay for this levy – but it is almost always unavailable
- If you can’t pay the levy online, you can pay at the airport after passing through Immigration and Customs but the payment counter is difficult to find and changes locations regularly.
- If you’re unable to find it, don’t worry too much, you should be able to pay on your way out of Bali instead.
- Note that as this is a new system (since February 2024) it has a lot of issues still. Bali officials are generally extremely forgiving if you are unable to pay it.
Please make sure you only use the links provided above, because there are many scam sites.
